How To Create A Mood board For your Life

One of the greatest thing you can have in this life is vision. They say athletes spend just as much time training as they do visualizing their wins and so why don’t we ? The way I see it, if you can visualize it you can manifest it into reality. So before go on with this year without any vision let me break down what vision boards are and how to make one.

What’s a vision board you ask ? Well, a vision board is essentially a mood board for your life. Its a board on which you place all your dreams aspirations and goals in a visual format. It’s essentially a tool to help you remain focused on what it is you want out of your life and manifest those very things.

Here are the steps to creating your very own Vision Board.

STEP 1.

Start with a list. Make a list of all it is that you want out of life (feel free to set a time frame I like to do this on a yearly basis but its up to you). It can be tempting to go straight to sourcing images but it’s important to be able to put words to what it is that you would like. I would also suggest that you break down your wants by categories. So for example, you can create categories for your friendships, finances, love life, career goals, hair goals, activities etc. You can keep things general but don’t be afraid to get specific. This part of creating a vision board is really great to help you determine what your priorities are.

STEP 2

Now that you’ve done the heavy work of putting your dreams down on paper we can get to the creative part! Time to get your scissors and tape out of that crafting drawer you never open and get to work. This is where your list comes in handy, based on what you wrote down find images that represent those things. In my case I chose to include images but also numbers and quotes that relate to my goals. Where to find images ? You can source these anywhere, from books, magazines, flyers and perhaps your greatest tool… the internet! Pinterest is one of my go to ressources for finding beautiful images and I would definitely recommend taking a look at their website.

STEP 3

Have fun with it! Do not limit yourself to the format that I demonstrate here! There are many ways to create Vision boards and ultimately you should work in the form that inspires you most. Make it a party ! This can easily be a group activity so gather some snacks, mix some drinks and get your friends together for a fun time where you can share your goals, get creative and bond.

Whether you choose to create a digital vision board or a physical board, make sure you place it somewhere you see daily as a reminder of all the things your want and encouragement to continue to hustle hard. I truly believe there isn’t a single thing out of your reach if you are willing to dream big and commit to doing the work.
